Evidence of Diversity

Although the neighborhood is known primarily as being a Jewish area, there are still many stores and restaurants that are not related to the Jewish religion. In my wandering the neighborhood I came across Thai, and Ethiopian restaurants. There were businesses whose signs were written in different languages such as Farsi, Hebrew and French. Through these business signs, one can see that the neighborhood caters to a diverse population.

I also noticed the diversity among the people who were wandering the street. I recognized that the homes in the neighborhood also brought a significant amount of diversity into the community for the fact that the North side of Pico Blvd. houses higher income families, and the the South side of Pico Blvd. caters to lower income families. This one street, Pico Blvd., is the only division between the two sides of housing communities. This aspect of the community also provides evidence into the diversity of the neighborhood, for both the north and the south sides of the Blvd. can take advantage of the utilities that are available on Pico.
